I Cantori di San Marco

I Cantori di San Marco is a recently formed ensemble which is directly based upon the Cantores Sancti Marci, a group mentioned in the Venetian Ducal Basilica’s Liber Cerimonialis (1562). The enormous quantity of music which originated in this unique church maintained a close attention to the diffusion of vibrations in the environment and, when performed, requires a constant qualitative evaluation of the produced sounds.
I Cantori di San Marco strive to preserve this music-space-sound combination—of which St. Mark’s singers have always been considered experts.
The ensemble holds concerts in various Italian cities and performs pieces from Medieval, Renaissance, a cappella, and Baroque periods.
